About Alexandra

I'm Alexandra Janelli, a hypnotherapist and educator with sixteen years of clinical experience. I work with individuals and train practitioners in the modern application of hypnosis.

Throughout my career, I've worked with thousands of clients and have been recognized as a Best of NYC award winner for my work. This depth of experience has shaped a clear, practical understanding of how the hypnotic state actually functions, and how to work with it effectively to support real, measurable change.

"Anyone can learn to hypnotize someone. The hard part is what you do once they're in the hypnotic state."

I came to hypnosis because nothing else worked.

For as long as I could remember, I picked my fingers. By college, my friends called me "hamburger hands." Doctors recommended high-dose OCD medication. Years of therapy produced nothing lasting. I tried everything.

In 2006, my nutritionist asked whether I had ever considered hypnosis. The idea seemed strange, but I believe in alternatives, so I went. Within one session, the picking stopped. After years of trying everything, one session changed a behavior that nothing else could touch. I went back for other things, and kept going. Hypnosis changed my life.

In 2009, I left environmental consulting, enrolled in hypnotherapy training, and made it my mission to bring hypnosis to the forefront as a legitimate, science-grounded therapy. I built my practice on integrity and transparency, knowing that an informed client is the best client. I trained additionally through iPEC in coaching and mentoring, grew to a fully referral-based practice, and was voted Best Hypnotist in NYC.

Over the past sixteen years, I've worked with thousands of clients and built a full-time hypnotherapy practice in New York City. My work has been recognized with Best of NYC awards, and I've been called the Mother of Modern Hypnosis by Bianca Dusic, hypnotherapist and mindset coach at beyondWithin.

Alongside my client work, I've built and operated multiple wellness businesses, founding and running brick-and-mortar spas in New York City and Philadelphia for nine years.

I also train practitioners, helping close the gap between technique and effectiveness by teaching how to recognize and work within the hypnotic state itself.

At Home Hypnosis was created as an extension of this work, bringing together sixteen years of hands-on clinical experience, entrepreneurship, and a practical understanding of hypnosis as a learnable, skillful craft.

A Few Things I've Learned

You Can Learn This

Hypnosis isn't a talent you're born with. It's a skill. But like any skill worth having, it takes practice and you have to be willing to be bad at it first.

Rapport Is Everything

Without genuine connection, technique falls flat. The most effective sessions happen when your client feels safe, seen, and understood. Rapport isn't a step, it's the foundation.

Books Only Get You So Far

I've read a lot of them. They help. But the real learning happens when you're sitting across from someone and have to figure out what to do next.

Know the Science, Trust Your Gut

Understanding what's happening in the brain is useful. So is learning to read the room. The best sessions happen when you can do both.
